Day 98 - Little Rancheria river - Watson Lake, YT

Early in the morning the sun teased us, it appeared from behind the clouds, the thick clouds made the sun look like the moon. The team's joy with the sun's appearance was short lived. The sun got behind the clouds, not seeing again until the end of the afternoon.

Early afternoon we decided to get on the road and use what ever charge we had in the batteries. The drive went well, the occasional stop to take photos, film registering the adventure. As we arrived in Watson Lake the sun welcomed us with its much needed radiation to charge the batteries. As we arrived, people were excited to see the solar car. Some vehicles followed us around, people jumping out of their cars to take photos and coming to talk to us. Mark and Lew were quite excited to talk about the project with everybody.

We did a quick stop at the Sign Post Forest, a must, we missed it the first time we drove by Watson Lake. At the Sing Post Forest there are signs from all over the world, a very impressive collection. If a sign went missing in your neighborhood, chances are you will find it at the Sin Post Forest.

The UFO landing site for the night was back at the Downtown RV park. Marcelo was anxious to set up the array and not miss the rare seeing sun. While the array was set up the array, at the first opportunity we all took turns baby-sitting the solar car while others made a dash to take a shower and run errands. Archie was happy to see the solar car back at the Downtown RV Park and gave us another complimentary stay. Thanks Archie!

The RV parking was empty when we arrived but soon after there was a line up of RV making their way to the lot. While charging the batteries there was a few people coming by to see the solar car.

While in Whitehorse two residents of Watson Lake, Vern and Cindy who invited us to stay at their place. Vern came by to see us and take to his home. Marcelo wanted to stay with the solar car, Mark and Lew not wanting to leave a men behind stayed with him. What a troopers! It was a very cold night.

Thank you Vern for the invite, much appreciated.
