Overnight the clear sky full of stars gave away to an early morning rain.
We woke up to a thick overcast sky, fog, rain and cold. It was so heavily
overcast that at times the clamp meter didn't even register any thing.
Nothing much to do other wait. We didn't set up the array to face the sun,
couldn't tell where it was in the sky.
Between on and off rain, Lew and Mark went exploring the area, they found
some old abandoned log cabins near by. Sorry, no photo but they said they
were beautiful and still in good shape but haven't been used in many years.
At about 15:00 we checked the batteries, at 90V not much of any charge
but we got on the road eager to find sunlight beyond the hills but again
the hilly terrain and heavy overcast called the shots. One of the shortest
drives ever, less than 20km. We did not see the sun at all today.
After only driving a few kilometers we found a good location, a large flat
gravel pit. Lew and Mark went on a mission to gather fire wood while Marcelo
made a fire pit with some river rocks near. Lew using angel hair (a type
of musk) got the fire going, we boiled water, made hot chocolate, tea,
warmed up some canned soup and munchied on snacks
Seating by the fire didn't help keep Back flies away, it out number us by the thousands, it didn't seem bothered by the fire or smoke. We had Back flies flying into our mouths when we were talking, eyes, into our hot chocolate and soup, it was maddening. those little Back flies were a pest. We only had a break from the Back flies when it rain. So, we welcomed the rain, kind off.
