Day 89 - Whitehorse, YT - Show & tell at local schools

It was another day of show and tell, today at FH Collins and Selkirk Elementary School. Fortunate the schools are located literally across the street from Phellipe's metal shop so taking the solar car to the schools was a breeze.

The first presentation took place at F.H.Collins to a large contingent of students at first and later presentations to smaller group of students, covering most of the school. Between presentations I ran to the school next door (Selkirk Elementary) to see if they would be interested in having a presentation with the solar car. Coincidentally the school principal had seeing the solar car and spoken to me back in Eagle Plains, NT a few weeks ago. She was thrilled to have her students seeing the solar car, we scheduled a presentation on a minutes noticed following my last presentation at FH Collins.

At Selkirk I did a single presentation to all students, they all came out at the same time gathering around the solar car, it was a large crowd. Half way through the presentation a CBC crew (Sandy and Wayne) on a way to shoot a news segment intrigued by the commotion stopped by to check out what was happening found themselves filming all the action, they got there just in time to see the drive demo with the car. After the presentation at the school, Wayne and Sandy interested in sharing more of the project with their audience decided to do an interview on the spot, getting some of the students reaction and later we drove around downtown following the solar car and capturing some interesting people's reaction as they saw the solar car. Once we were done shooting we took a short break, grabbed a bite at Baked and drove the solar car back to the metal shop.
