Day 10 - Bemidji, Mn - Roseau, Mn
Our crew - which now included Tom and Sandy - stopped at Bemidji's famous Paul and Babe statues for a photo op before leaving for the Canadian border. Minnesota, having already presented some of the tours most interesting challenges, provided an obstacle we hadn't anticipated: bees. A small gap formed between the solar car's canopy and chassis, and bees and other bugs quickly found their way inside. Marcelo was glad to see that the solar car was again just as good as a gas-powered vehicle in smashing incoming bugs, but at least once a live bee found its way inside. As we approached the northern border of Minnesota, two approaching storms and quickly-depleting batteries gave us cause for alarm. We pulled over at a nature preserve near Roseau, Minnesota to wait out what we thought was impending trouble. No sooner had we stopped than a local farmer named Warren Stoe happened upon the crew and generously offered us a place to stay with him and his son, Aaron. The Xof1 team gladly accepted Warren's offer. Having gotten us almost to the border, Tom and Sandy had to say goodbye. Thanks again guys! We're working on a solar car for your wedding gift..
We had a lot of fun learning about life on the Stoe bluegrass farm and the Stoe garage proved to be the best workspace Marcelo has had since Toronto. . We heard all about shivarees, met with a local reporter, and got to rest up before our early start across the border. Too bad Evan fell asleep with the keys in his pocket.

just 3 miles south of the boarder. It all workout at the end. We found one of the most beautiful places by a reserve area to take cover from the weather, which eventually cleared.

Warren was showing us the farm, we learned a few things about farming. Evan is now considering doing some work on the farm at the end of the summer.
Warren, Erin and Evan placing tires on spare rims. Good job guys!

Marcel's goal be the end of the trip is to change tires without tools and have a friendly competition with Imran (former (Western University solar car team manager and XOF1 supporter).
Early in the morning, setting up the array to charge by batteries.

Thank you Warren and Erin for your welcoming hospitality!
