Day 75 - Beaver Creek, Yukon

This morning only Marcelo and Stephanie got up early enough to enjoy the sponsored breakfast Jen-Luc had arranged at the Westmark hotel. Jean-luc's warm, dry clean home was too comfortable to leave - even for a great buffet breakfast. After breakfast Marcelo drove all he way to Northway to pick up some weather monitoring, sensing and data logging equipment sent by Geo-Watersheds Scientific (www.gwscientific.com). Mo and Carrie helped uncovered the solar car and turn the solar array on to start charging the batteries and later rest of the crew joined in to help clean up the trailer. While Marcelo was gone everybody organized and gathered their belongings, played some music, ping-pong, had breakfast, check emails, etc...

Once Marcelo got back we loaded up and organized everything inside the van, full house, 7 people plus lots of luggage. No problem, the "A team" van handled it without any problem.
We left the trailer at Jean's place and the solar car at the RCMP garage in Beaver Creek.

Before we hit the road, we had lunch at Buckshot Betty's, and here we are right now driving back to Whitehorse as it continues to rain, rain and rain. The landscape is amazing! High in the mountains its snowing. The snow that was only covering the high peaks are now much lower and soon will be on the ground. The vegetation color is changing rapidly just a few days ago it all went from a luscious green to all shades of red, orange, yellow and brown transforming the landscaping into a beautiful painting. We have been so fortunate to see the colors change, in deed a privilege as Marcelo said.

We are listening to all kinds of music (Manu Chao, Pink Floyd, Eddie Vedder, Rammstein, Les cowboys fringanth, Elvis, Amy Macdonald, Offspring, etc...), Morgan and Emory are playing guitar and singing, Marcelo and Michael are filming everything, Lucian playing 3D Pinball.

Carrie, Mo and Michael are heading to Vancouver on the 27th from Whitehorse. From there Michael will be going back home to Holland! Mo will go back to Germany and Carrie will stay in Vancouver until December then she will be joining Mo in Germany. Emory will continue hitchhiking his way to Virginia via a quick stop through Washington State and Oregon to visit family from Whitehorse. Morgan and Lucian will be
hitchhiking back to Nova Scotia. Marcelo will be taking a well deserved break for a few days.

If you or someone you know would like to join Marcelo and his great solar car adventure send us an email. XOF1 have already covered over 11,000km (~6,800 miles). Only 4,550km (~2,800 miles) to go to set a new world distance record for a solar car.

Marcelo is keeping the end of the tour (originally scheduled to end in Buffalo, NY) open, not date or location to end. If you, your business, city, state, province or country would like to have XOF1 to extend the tour to include your region contact us.

Special thanks today to the Jean-luc, Stephanie, RCMP and Westmark Hotel from Beaver Creek.

Mike from the Alaskan Gas Station near the USA / Canada boarder first thought the solar car was an UFO.
Part of the equipment being installed on the solar car support vehicle to collect data. Thanks to Geo-Watersheds Scientific we'll be collecting more data about the solar car and the environment we'll be driving in.
Jean-luc's home, our Beaver Creek host
XOF1 safely tackled in inside RCMP garage in Beaver Creek.
This was our last enjoying a meal together just before getting on the road towards Whitehorse.
Rain and heavily overcast skies, we haven't seeing the sun in a few days.
Far in the horizon, majestic mountains showing signs of the old man winter is getting close, the snow descend towards the ground. Just a few days ago, snow could only be seem at mountains peak.
4 degrees Celsius. It is getting cold !
On the road to Whitehorse!
Go "A team" go!!!
