Day 68 - Anchorage

A day in Anchorage and meeting the press

The Wilmon's family and Marcelo were up early in the morning, the kids were playing, Paula getting breakfast and Mike and Marcelo looking a place to buy new rodends for the solar. At about around 07:30 a great surprise on the street in front of the house, there was a big mama moose with one calf. Normally we the crew have some problems with waking up early but the mooses did the job pretty good! After setting up the array we have been treated to a great breakfast by Paula. Porridge is good but nothing beats a home cooked breakfast with eggs and hash browns.

Around 10:00 in the morning we left for the parkstrip in Anchorage together with Paula, Mike, Brandon and Spencer. Mike had brought his electric car with his incredible speeds, zero-60 miles in 3 seconds. Later that morning the press had arrived and interviewd Marcelo while filming a couple of nice shots for the tv as well. (you can see this on the internet) it was broadcasted the same day.

When the press had left it was nice to have one day of relaxation while the solar car was charging up. Everbody did their own things, from napping on the grass, going into town, telling jokes, playing with the kids and doing maintenance on the car. Paula had provided us with some nice snacks, very cool! Of course there were always some curious people asking questions wich is a good thing!

Around 19:00 the battery was almost charged and we headed off to the Willmon's home. There when we arrived we were treated with an AMAZING Alaskan King Crab (thanks to Hank) and kebab dinnner (thanks to Paula). After dinner Mike and Hank took us of for a ride in the electric race car which was UNBELIEVABLE!!! We had never thought that an electric car could go that fast.

We had ended the day with lots of beer and wine. It was a great night that may have caused some problems the next morning for some of us. Marcelo finally took at break and had one beer. Hey, about time!
