Day 66 - Mount Mackinley View Lodge - Houston

Marcelo got up early to uncover the solar car and turn the array on but the heavy rain and overcast sky didn't provide much of charging. Evenctuaclly we woke up, got coffe and food, while waiting for the rain to stop. At the lodge restaurant there is a wall with large windows which offer a previledge view of Mount Mackinley. Unfortunately, all we could see was clouds, nothing but clouds. The locals were complainting about this summer saying it was the worst summer they remmbered, too much rain and no sun.

Once the rain diminished a bit, we got underway and made it to Takleenta for a stop and charge the battery. In Takleenta there was a "Picking Festival" going on and a lot of people came and looked at the car with great music in the background. We enjoyed a great pizza and ice tea on a park next to where the solar car was charging.

Once we were charged, we were on the road again to make our way to Anchorage we managed to make to Houston.

In Houston we found out that it was the night of their annual celebration for the towns birthday. We attended and put the solar car on display. Marcelo stayed by the solar car to answer questions while the rest of the crew wonder around.

Then we got free food and watched a quarter of million dollars worth of firecrackers light up the sky. Hey, that's is enough money to build a really impressive solar array for the solar car. Oh well, the fireworks were beautiful!
